We recognise that your staff have a job to do and cannot be spending all of their time fundraising and so in order to make the partnership work for you we can help and advise them to make sure that supporting Julia’s House is a hassle free experience.

Christmas Cards

Many companies now prefer to make a contribution to charity rather than sending out Christmas cards to customers and suppliers. You can simply add an explanatory note to December invoices and remittance advice notes and Julia’s House would be happy to provide your customers and suppliers with literature too, so that they know exactly where the money is going.

At BAE Systems and Selex Communications in Christchurch, the staff have taken this a step further. Julia’s House provided them with large cards for their offices for all employees to sign rather than sending individual cards. Each staff member made a donation in the Julia’s House collection pot in lieu of the money saved on buying cards.

Payroll Giving

Payroll giving is a simple way of everyone in the company making a lasting contribution and it need not be a difficulty to set up. There are specialist agencies who will administer the process of deducting the money, claiming the tax back on the donation and depositing it with Julia’s House. They are strictly regulated and Julia’s House can put you in touch with a suitable agency.

Payroll giving offers a simple way to benefit a charity without staff members feeling that their wallet is being lightened. Few people would mind giving £1 per week, but equally, few people would give £104 as a lump sum once a year. Because all donations are tax free the donation will be worth 28% extra to the charity once it has been processed by the payroll giving agency. Therefore, a donation of £1 a week, need only cost the donor 78p.

Some companies promise to match the amount given by their employees, as an incentive to encourage more people to join the scheme and many people see the scheme as an employment benefit.

Gifts In Kind

It’s not all about cash! Some companies are able to help by providing goods or services. The cost to the company can some times be minimal, but the savings for the charity can be phenomenal. Entrega Logistics is a Blandford based company providing delivery services for private individuals

as well as companies. They have taken on the mantle of arranging the collection and delivery of stock around the charity’s five shops. It need not take the company’s drivers far out of their way and yet it saves the charity from needing to purchase a van, tax it, insure it and find regular, reliable volunteer drivers. The cost saving to Julia’s House is therefore significant.

Sponsorship

There are many sponsorship opportunities from sponsoring care team posts to sponsoring events and literature.

SPS is a printing firm in Ferndown who have sponsored the Julia’s House newsletter for some years now. The partnership works well, as the SPS logo is carried on the front of every edition that goes to 5,000 people and the charity’s newsletter is professionally produced. Julia’s House has various other items of literature for which sponsorship is sought, from leaflets promoting events to information sheets for the families of the children cared for by Julia’s House.

The Julia’s House Golf Day is sponsored by David Fennings Conservatories of Blandford. The company’s support allows the charity to publicise the event far and wide with professionally produced materials, which in turn results in a greater attendance and more money raised.

Cause Related Marketing

A number of companies have been kind enough to benefit Julia’s House by donating a percentage of the profits on certain product lines. Bowman Law, for example, is a Bournemouth based firm of property lawyers, who give £10 for every property sold and Scott Baines is a local estate agency which has a similar arrangement.

Not all such arrangements are publicised, but Julia’s House is often happy for details of the donation to be included in marketing materials or on the packaging and, if appropriate, we may be able to help to publicise the arrangement.

Events

Holding an event can be great fun to organise, can be very good for inviting customers or prospects along to and can be a high profile way of raising a large amount of money very quickly.

The Lewis Innovative Investments Golf Day has grown into one of the most successful fundraising events in the Dorset business calendar. The company has been supporting Julia’s House for a number of years and last year’s event raised £12,000. Future and existing customers take part in the event, which offers considerable corporate hospitality and always proves to be a big hit with those present as well as raising a significant amount for charity. Julia’s House can help by providing some auction items, literature and displays and also by providing a speaker on the day to help people to really understand what their support is helping to achieve.
